About Us

The Spanish Foot and Ankle Society was founded in1965, and from the beginning its scientific activity and membership has increased year by year.
Now there are 406 members, and 215 of these are also members of EFAS. The society’s annual congress is hosted in June each year.

This year we celebrated the congress in the wonderful city of Santiago de Compostela in North Western Spain, and the Chairman was Dr. Gonzalo Concheiro.
In 2008 we celebrate the 30th year of our congress

During the Congress three topics are presented, and also we organise sessions with free papers and of course poster sessions. Every year we present awards for the best free papers at the congress and we also make an award for the best free paper presentation by a Fellow. SEMCPT sponsors and supports courses in different cities in Spain.

The current President of the SEMCPT Council is Dr. Andres Carranza, the past president is Dr. J.R. Rodriguez Altónaga, the Vice-President is Dr. Antonio Viladot, and the other members of the council are Dr. J.M. Curto Gamallo, Dr. X. Martin Oliva, Dr. Fernandez, Dr. J. Contreras, Dr. S. Zabala, Dr. J. Valenti Ardanuy, Dr. M De Prado, Dr. J Lopez Laserna, Dr. Gonzalo Concheiro, Dr. L. Fernando Llanos Alcazar.

The Society edits an official Journal, Revista del Pie y Tobillo, which was founded in 1987 and publishes 3 issues per year. The Editors of the journal are Dr. L. Fernando Llanos Alcazar, Dr R. Larraínzar, Dr. Ernesto Maceira and Dr R. Rochera.
