The Italian Society of Foot and Ankle (pSCIs) is a free association that brings together university graduates in Medicine and affiliate members have different degrees, all interested in the study of the foot.

The company was established under the name of the Italian Society of Medicine and Surgery of the foot in February 1988 by founding A. Andreas, M. Bardelli, S. Giannini, F. Mori, N. Pace, G. Pisani, L. De Palma, L. Dragonetti, G. Help & F. Malerba.
The Company has obtained the witness of the Italian Society of existing chiropody (SIP) based in Genoa in June 1964 by L. Giuntini, P. Chiappara, GC Bernardi, P. Guidi, E. Serra, F. Tap and PL Nai-Fovino which in turn represented italiana section the then College International de Medecine du Pied and Surgery.
The College since 1958 included the pioneers of Foot Surgery as J. Lelièvre, A. Villadot, V. Valenti, A. De Wulf, and Napoli C. MM Return.

Since June 2005 the Company acquired its current name and amended its statutes to meet requests for supporters in possession of qualifications other than the Degree in Medicine and Surgery and also for adaptation to international standards

The company has the following aims:

• Promote awareness of Medicine and Surgery of the foot
by organizing conferences, meetings, symposiums,
study days, refresher courses.
• Promote programs of study and research related to
Medicine and Surgery of the Foot.
• Maintain relationships with institutions that have the same
purposes.
