What is AFCP (French Association for Surgery of the Foot)?
The foot and ankle pathology have a rich and complex.
The surgical treatment of these diseases have greatly developed over 20 years, thanks to technological advances.
The treatments available for patients are becoming more effective and more specific.
Surgeons interested in these conditions spontaneously gathered in 1993 to found the GEP (Groupe d'Etude du Pied) which was transformed in 1997 by French Association for Surgery of the Foot (AFCP).
The company currently has learned over 200 French and many members and visitors (Belgium, Switzerland, Italy, Romania, Czech Republic, Morocco, Tunisia, Algeria, Lebanon, Argentina, Russia).
The AFCP quickly became one of the first and largest "girls" of the SOFCOT (French Society of Orthopedic Surgery and trauma) because of the foot pathologies are becoming increasingly important in the pathology of the device Locomotor.
This affiliation allows all orthopedic surgeons to learn and update their knowledge of the pathologies of the foot and ankle as well as in their treatment.
The objectives of the AFCP are multiple:
- Expand and improve knowledge in all areas of the foot.
- Maintain and stimulate clinical and basic research.
- Provide education through the organization of congresses (Spring Days and days specialties in November) and the IUD (inter-university diploma) of pathology of the foot and ankle that is unique in Europe, which include 12 French universities.
The IUD was "exported" in many French-speaking countries such as Morocco, Lebanon and francophile like Romania and the Czech Republic.
- Facilitate the exchanges between younger and more experienced in organizing companion (fellow-ship ), and disseminating scientific work and publications of its members
- Share, compare and disseminate the French ideas to foreign countries through participation in international conferences (IFAS, International Federation of Foot and Ankle Societies), and its active participation in EFAS (European Foot and Ankle Society) it is an active member.
However, through these activities, the AFCP rest primarily in the service of their patients and it provides accurate and validated information available on its website.
The AFCP is an association open to all orthopedic surgeons goodwill concerned to maintain their enthusiasm and to live.
