The Finnish Orthopedic Association SOY FOA was founded 17.3 v.1951. Elected first President F. Langenskjöld. My association became necessary, while pharmaceuticals and surgical techniques reached orthopedic surgery required levels in addition to interest in social and legislative trends. Orthopedic Association has increased the beginning of 20 founding members, already the largest surgical organization in Finland, 408 members.

SOY's most important event is the annual meeting presentations.
Moreover, every two years to organize the course of Lapland and the Austrian course, as well as SOY's spring are increasing in popularity. SOY's board meeting on 18 February 1986 the decision was appropriate to publish kokousesitelmälyhennelmiä Akta orthopedic Scandinavica newspaper. Orthopedics and Traumatology Foundation, the research aims to orthopedics and traumatology development of our country by dividing the annual research grants.
