The British Society for Children’s Orthopaedic Surgery (BSCOS) was founded in 1984 with the aim of promoting paediatric orthopaedic surgery in the UK. It is affiliated to the British Orthopaedic Association, the European Paediatric Orthopaedic Society (EPOS) and the Paediatric Orthopaedic Society of North America (POSNA).
Society members are UK orthopaedic consultants whose practice has a substantial paediatric component. The Society meets twice a year for an all-day meeting and frequently offers instructional courses at the BOA Congresses. It provides a forum for discussion of research, advances in clinical practice, and the outcome of surgical procedures pertaining to children's orthopaedics and trauma.
Through its meetings and instructional courses the Society has an important role in fostering interest and expertise in paediatric orthopaedic surgery in the UK.
