About Us

The Australasian College of Sports Physicians ACSP(formerly Australian College of Sports Physicians) is an incorporated body (ACN 003 200 584), registered in all States and Territories of Australia and New Zealand. It has an elected Council. Elections are held annually as determined by the College's Articles of Association.

The College has various sub-committees including the Board of Censors, which is responsible for overseeing the academic and clinical standards of the College.

The ACSP is an organisation of physicians committed to excellence in the practice of medicine as it applies to all aspects of physical activity.

Founded in 1985, it is the professional body representing sports physicians in both Australia and New Zealand. It conducts an annual scientific conference, produces a scientific journal and is involved in both training and assessment of sports physicians.

ACSP was successful in achieving recognition of Sports Medicine / Sport and Exercise Medicine as a specialist medical discipline in Australia in 2007. The discipline was recognised in New Zealand in 1999. ACSP conducts the only specialist level clinical trainng program in sports medicine and sport and exercise medicine in Australasia. The training program culminates in the award of a Fellowship in Sport and Exercise Medicine.
